Li-Wan's Revenge

I got an awesome ghost story today in my email! Written by Deborah Teramis Christian and illustrated by Emily Vitori and set in her' Qua-lun world (found in her Dragonsword novels), the ghost story is an awesome tale of how ghosts might interact within a world where their existence is real.

The story is free. It's a retelling of the story as found in the novel Dragonsword, which is also free. The illustrations are beautiful and the story of Li-Wan's revenge is, well, awesome.Trust me, you need to read this. Then you need to go download the novel it's from and read THAT too, since it's an excellent work.

The world is a fantasy version based loosely on Medieval Japan. The magic system sort of reminds me of 1st and 2nd edition AD&D's Oriental Adventures setting. That's no accident; Teramis was one of the contributing authors to the Kara-Tur boxed set and other TSR works. She used her work on these projects as the basis for this world, taking her work there and recreating it as a viable fiction world rather than a game setting.

Not all ghosts are evil, even when they're out for vengeance.
